Google+ Traffic Decreases

Google’s latest social network project was visited by fewer users from the United States last week. Those who did dropped by Google+ spent less time on it. This is according to new data released by researcher Experian Hitwise. Google Traffic Decreases

The data showed that Google+ had 1.79 million visits last week, which is a decrease of three percent from the previous week that had 1.86 million visits. The average time on the site was 10 percent shorter. Visitors stayed in the site for 5 minutes 15 seconds. This is less than the 5 minutes 50 seconds of last week.

Google didn’t want to comment on the report but it said that the numbers were based on the amount of visitors and not the actual number of users. Third party metrics usually neglect mobile usage and navigation bar usage, which members can utilize to interact with others from another Google product.

Google+ is the latest attempt by the search giant to compete against Facebook. It is a month old and still in its field test. People must be invited by an existing member to join Google+. In its first three weeks, it managed to collect 200 million members. If that is correct then the social network has doubled its user base in just one week.
