If you don’t have a Google TV in your home, now is the right time to get one. Logitech announced that it would cut the price of its Revue Google TV set-top box to $99 from its original price of $249. The Revue lets users search for interesting things to watch. They can input the actor’s name, channel name, and sports team to get content from the internet. If you connect a USB video camera, you can convert your TV into a video chat monitor.
Logitech said that more Revue units were returned than sold. This is the reason why the company chose to drastically cut the price. People have various reasons why they return the units. One of the reasons was that users encounter problems with TV network sites blocking the Chrome browser from playing their content.
During Logitech’s earnings conference, its CEO Guerrino De Luca tackled the company’s revenues that were in part due to the slow Revue sales. The company needs to make its Google TV products more interesting for the consumers.
The low price of the Revue could bring in more people to Google TV. It was announced by Google that it will update Google TV software so that users will have access to the Android Market.
